This explains what personal information we use, why we need it, who may receive it and the choices you have.

2. What information might we collect?
Depending on what you do on the site, this can include your name, email address, postal and delivery address, order details, messages and customer-service correspondence, refund or delivery information, and basic technical or security information generated by the website or hosting service.
When Stripe checkout is connected, Stripe will handle payment-card information needed to process the payment. Average Man Workbooks does not intend to store full card numbers or security codes itself.
3. Why do we use it and what is our lawful basis?
- Orders and customer service: to take an order, deliver it, communicate about it and deal with returns or refunds. The main basis is performance of a contract or steps requested before entering one.
- Tax, accounting and legal records: to comply with legal obligations.
- Site security and ordinary business administration: where necessary for our legitimate interests in operating and protecting the business and website, balanced against your rights.
- Marketing: only where permitted under applicable electronic-marketing rules. Where consent is required, consent will be the basis and you can withdraw it.
- Non-essential cookies or tracking: consent will be obtained where required before they are used.
4. Information we do not ask you to send
This is a publishing and customer-service website, not a clinical service. Please do not send detailed health information, probation or criminal-case information, or other highly sensitive personal information through the contact route. If unnecessary sensitive information is sent, we will minimise its use and remove it when there is no reason to retain it.
5. Who might receive information?
Information may be shared only where needed with providers that help us run the business — for example website hosting, email, payment processing, Royal Mail or another delivery provider, and professional advisers — or with authorities where the law requires it. We do not sell customer personal information.
The exact provider list and any international-transfer safeguards will be checked again when Stripe, hosting and the live contact/email systems are connected.
6. How long do we keep it?
Ordinary enquiries that do not become an order or ongoing issue will normally be kept for no longer than 12 months unless there is a reason to retain them longer. Order, sales and accounting records are kept for the period required for tax and legal record-keeping; for a UK sole trader this will normally mean at least five years after the 31 January filing deadline for the relevant tax year. Records connected with a dispute, refund or legal claim may be kept longer where reasonably necessary.
If a marketing list is introduced, marketing contact details will be kept until you unsubscribe or they are no longer needed. A minimal suppression record may be kept so we can respect an opt-out.
8. Your data-protection rights
Depending on the circumstances, UK data-protection law may give you rights to access personal information, correct it, ask for erasure or restriction, object to certain processing, receive certain information in a portable form and withdraw consent where processing relies on consent. These rights can have legal limits.

9. Complaints
If you think your information has been handled incorrectly, please contact us first so we can look into it. You also have the right to complain to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office.
