Returns & refunds

Changed your mind? Something wrong?

The process should be clear either way. This page covers direct website orders; retailer purchases follow that retailer’s process.

1. If you change your mind

For ordinary physical goods bought online, you normally have 14 days after the day you receive the goods to tell us you want to cancel. After telling us, you normally have another 14 days to send the goods back. You do not need to give a reason.

Email craig@averagemanworkbooks.co.uk with your name, order details and a clear statement that you are cancelling, or use the model cancellation form. You do not have to use the model form.

2. Where to return a direct order

Return direct-order goods to:
Craig Law trading as Average Man Workbooks
18 Elmridge Crescent
Bispham
Blackpool
Lancashire
FY2 0NQ
United Kingdom

Please package the book securely enough for the return journey. We recommend keeping proof of postage.

3. Who pays return postage and packaging?

For a simple change of mind, you are responsible for arranging and paying for suitable return postage and return packaging. If the goods are faulty, damaged, incorrect or not as described, contact us first; where the law requires it, we will cover reasonable return costs.

4. Handling and diminished value

You may handle the book only as much as reasonably necessary to inspect it, in the sort of way you could in a shop. If you handle or use it beyond that and the value is reduced, the law may allow us to make a deduction from the refund for that diminished value.

For a workbook, examples of use that can materially reduce resale value include writing in it, completing exercises, highlighting or marking pages, tearing or folding pages, stains or other damage. Opening the parcel or reasonably inspecting the book does not by itself remove your cancellation right.

5. Refund amount and timing

For a valid full-order cancellation, we refund the amounts the law requires, including the cost of our standard outbound delivery service. At launch that standard delivery charge is £3.95 Royal Mail Tracked 48. If a more expensive delivery option is introduced and you choose it, we would not have to refund more than the standard-delivery amount.

We may wait until we receive the goods back or you provide legally sufficient evidence that you sent them back. The refund will then be made within the legally required period, normally using the original payment method unless otherwise agreed.

6. Faulty, damaged, incorrect or not-as-described goods

Your statutory rights are separate from the change-of-mind cancellation right. Email craig@averagemanworkbooks.co.uk if there is a problem with a direct order. Depending on the circumstances, you may be entitled to a refund, replacement or other legal remedy. This policy does not reduce those rights.

7. Amazon or another retailer

If you bought the book from Amazon or another retailer, start the return with that retailer because they handled the transaction and delivery.
